Shopping Trolley Token — 12-Sided £1-Size Coin Token, Silver, Gold or Rose Gold Chain
Never be caught at the trolley bay without a pound again. This is a reusable shopping trolley token cut to the same footprint as a UK £1 coin — 12 sides, 23.43 mm across corners and 2.8 mm thick — so it drops into a standard supermarket trolley lock and releases the chain the same way a coin does. The keyring hole sits inside the body rather than on a sticking-out tab, so there is nothing to snag in a pocket and nothing to snap off. Both faces are blank: this is a token, not a copy of a coin. It arrives on a fitted keychain — a jump ring through the token, a short six-link chain and a 25 mm split ring — so it goes straight onto your keys, and comes back off them in one piece. Choose the chain in silver, gold or rose gold; the token itself is matte grey in all three. Dispatched from the UK.
Choose Your Chain Colour
- Silver — the plain bright finish, and the one that disappears among a set of house keys
- Gold — warm yellow tone, easy to pick out of a full bag
- Rose Gold — soft pink tone, the quietest of the three
The jump ring, chain and split ring are plated metal alloy — silver, gold and rose gold are the finishes, not solid precious metals. The token, its size and everything it fits are identical whichever you pick, and the token is matte grey in all three. Plating is a surface: it will mark in time if you keep it loose with sharp keys.
Key Features
- £1 Footprint: 12 sides, 23.43 mm across corners — the same side count and the same maximum width as a UK £1 coin, so it enters the slot the same way
- Coin-Matched Thickness: 2.8 mm, matching the £1 coin, so the lock’s plunger picks it up
- Square Rim: A flat, full-depth edge band all the way round — the catch inside the lock has the whole 2.8 mm to hold, with no ramp to ride up
- Keyring Hole Inside the Body: A Ø4 mm hole set 7.6 mm off centre, with 2.0 mm of material between it and the nearest flat — no protruding tab to catch or break
- Three Chain Finishes: Silver, gold or rose gold plated alloy, fitted before it ships — nothing else to buy to put it on your keys
- Comes Off in One Piece: The split ring is what leaves your key bunch, so the token and its chain travel together and there is nothing small to unthread
- Blank Faces: No denomination, no portrait, no coin markings — it is a trolley token and reads as one
- Won’t Rust or Tarnish: The token is a tough, shatter-resistant plastic that shrugs off a wet trolley bay and a damp coat pocket
- Barely There: Approx. 1 g of token — you will not feel it on a keyring next to your car key
- UK Seller & UK Stock: Dispatched from the United Kingdom with tracked delivery

Perfect For
- The weekly big shop — keep it on the car key so the trolley is never the thing that holds you up
- Card-only shoppers — a pound coin is the one thing a contactless wallet never has in it
- Airport and station trolleys — the same coin-release lock turns up on luggage trolleys too
- Gym and swimming pool lockers — many take a £1 coin on the same principle
- Delivery drivers and carers — several trolley bays a day, none of them near a cash machine
- Two in the house — a different chain colour each tells you whose set of keys you have picked up
Compatible With
Works with the coin-release trolley locks used across UK supermarkets — Aldi, Lidl, Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and B&Q among them — along with airport and railway station luggage trolleys and many £1 locker doors, wherever the lock takes a £1 coin. It comes on its own keychain, and the hole takes any other split ring, keyring, carabiner or snap clip that passes through Ø4 mm if you would rather fit your own. A handful of older locks take a different coin, and a lock that has been damaged or jammed will not accept a coin either — check the label on the trolley handle before you buy. Keys are not included.
